Sodium problems require low-sodium fertilizers

Due to the new water purification guidelines in the Netherlands, the sodium content in the irrigation water can easily increase quickly. Sodium can also rise more easily if the basins are emptied due to drought. It is then poured with, for example, tap, well, ditch or osmosis water. That water contains various elements, including sodium. Sodium then displaces other elements. This sodium problem requires solutions and Haifa started working on it. A first answer is now coming from Mechelen / Israel and a second one will be released later this year.

Multi-K Reci

Let's start with potassium nitrate. Potassium and nitrogen nitrate are the most important elements of this. These are useful nutritional elements, but fertilizer also always contains some ballast salts that are not needed or to a lesser extent. These ballast salts, including sodium, interfere with the useful elements in terms of uptake. One of those useful elements is calcium.

With the introduction of Multi-K Reci we significantly reduce sodium content and promote calcium absorption, among other things. The calcium is desperately needed. It offers cell wall reinforcement, among other things. Nasal rot and other quality problems can thus be prevented. Haifa has been launching Multi-K Reci on the market for some time. This has a low guaranteed sodium content, namely 150 ppm.



In addition to potassium nitrate producer, Haifa is also a phosphate producer. The same applies to that. There is a percentage of sodium in this product that is subject to fluctuations. Growers are already familiar with MKP. This is monopotassium phosphate. MKP Reci is approaching. Marco: MKP Reci will soon have a considerably lower sodium content than the usual MKPs on the market. The Benelux market is ready, as is the rest of the northwest European market, where there is a growing demand for cleaner, pure fertilizers.
