Agronomic Q&A: What are the guidelines for mixing fertilizers?

Agronomic Q&A: What are the guidelines for mixing fertilizers?

A: Not all fertilizers can be combined together in the same tank for using it as stock solution. This is especially the case if using calcium containing fertilizers such as Haifa Cal™. Under those terms you will need a system that consists of at least two tanks – A and B – in which the correct fertilizers are dissolved.

In order to prevent chemical interaction and corresponding precipitation between fertilizers, it's important to use the right combination of fertilizers. Neither phosphoric nor sulphatic fertilizers should be mixed with calcium or magnesium containing fertilizers in the same tank. The separation prevents interaction between calcium and / or magnesium with phosphate and / or sulphate, which may result in precipitation in the tank and / or in the pipeline, clogging devices and emitters.
