The President’s Award Granted to the Dimona Educational Farm Project

Date

On January 13, the final event of the ISDG Project was held at the President’s Office in Jerusalem. The initiative equips school students from across Israel with tools to develop innovative solutions inspired by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The event took place in the presence of the President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, alongside participants, their families, and representatives of the education system and the wider community. During the event, a range of innovative projects developed by young participants from across the country were presented, all aimed at promoting sustainable development and fostering social and technological innovation.

The POWERLENS project, developed by ninth-grade students from the Dimona Educational Farm in collaboration with Haifa Group, was awarded first prize. Addressing the Zero Hunger goal, the project offers a unique agricultural solution for cultivating water lentils –  a protein-rich plant that can be grown independently using solar energy – providing an innovative response to global challenges related to food security and sustainable development.

During the festive event, the President expressed his deep appreciation for the creativity and initiative demonstrated by the young participants, stating:
“In the face of immense challenges, the younger generation is realizing its tremendous potential and offering great hope for a better future.”
His remarks underscored the importance of continued support and investment in the next generation, which is already delivering inspiring solutions to some of today’s most pressing challenges.

We congratulate the students and the farm’s team on their achievement and on the success of a project that Haifa Group is proud to be part of.

Special thanks to Yossi Sofer, Haifa Group’s agronomist and coordinator of all educational projects in Israel, for his dedicated support of the outstanding students and the Educational Farm led by Efrat Shahar.
